Kishida approval rating sinks to new low of 43%: Nikkei survey

TOKYO — Fumio Kishida’s cabinet’s approval ratings have plunged to a new low in a recent Nikkei/TV Tokyo poll, with the public expressing discontent with an investigation by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of its members’ ties to the Unification Church.

The cabinet’s approval rating fell to 43% from 57% in August, according to a survey conducted Friday-Sunday. It was the lowest level for a government that was inaugurated in October 2021. Ratings dropped for him for the fourth straight month.
